This Remanufactured VW Vanagon Long Block is for a 1986 - 1991 Vanagon and is expanded to 2.2L. It features a 1mm longer stroke for more torque and 96 mm Pistons and Cylinders. Actually, this is 2.25L when you do the math.

Includes new AMC Heads retro-fitted with new TRW Intake and Exhaust valves and German springs, retainers and keepers from factory heads. Crankshaft is off-set ground 1mm and Thermal Cycled in Nitrogen Cryogenic for increased integrity. Early European Syncro camshaft has unique valve lift and duration for increased high RPM performance. Connecting Rods are New Factory VW Rods which are "Hand Planked" and polished to relieve stress fissures and lightened 43 grams, dynamically balanced to zero grams (perfect balance). Cast Pistons are also balanced to zero grams difference and are 210 grams lighter each. New Kolbenschmidt bearings throughout for highest quality and life expectancy.

These engines are Whisper Quite and Vibrationless - Revs with a quickness right into the Red Zone 5,300 RPM Rev limiter built into the Digifant Control Unit (so quiet, many forget to shift into 4th gear). In Automatic or Stickshift Vanagons it is smooth and powerful cruising at 85 MPH is effortless. Bolts right in with no modifications required whatsoever.
